Gift Exchange Game

How to play

A game runs in four stages, and the app shows which one your group is on: Add gifts, Shop, Guess, and Results.

For everyone

  1. Join a group. Download the app and create an account with the email address the organizer invited. The group appears on your home screen.
  2. Add your wish. Enter the one gift you'd like. Keep the name short, because it's what everyone sees in the guessing game. Add details like size, color, or model, and links if you have them. The store buttons search Amazon, Walmart, Target, Etsy, Best Buy, or any store for you.
  3. Buy your gift. Once the organizer hands out gifts, the app shows the one gift you're buying, with its details, links, and the spending limit. Keep it a secret!
  4. Get together and open the gifts. A fun way to do it: everyone picks a random present from the pile, then take turns opening them. Take notes on who seems to have wanted each one.
  5. Guess who wanted what. When the organizer starts the guessing game, open the Play tab and pick the gift you think each person asked for. Your picks are saved on your phone until you submit.
  6. See the results. When the organizer shows results, everyone sees the scores and who asked for each gift.

For the organizer

Whoever creates the group is the organizer.

  1. Create a group. Tap Create a group, give it a name, set a spending limit, and pick a theme: Classic, Christmas, or Birthday.
  2. Invite people. Open the group and tap Invite people. Each person gets an invite email, but they don't need to use it. They only need to sign up in the app with the same email address you entered.
  3. Watch for wishes. The group screen shows who still needs to add a gift. You can remove members or cancel invites until gifts are handed out.
  4. Hand out gifts. When everyone has added a wish, tap Hand out gifts. The app secretly assigns each person one gift to buy, and nobody gets their own. Anyone still invited but not joined is removed from the group.
  5. Start the guessing game. After everyone has opened their gifts, tap Start guessing game.
  6. Show the results. Once the guesses are in, tap Show results on the Play tab.

Tip: Some families add a small prize pot for whoever gets the most guesses right. See more ways to make the exchange fun.

Is the app free? Yes. There are no subscriptions or in-app purchases. Some store links in the app are affiliate links, which is how we keep it free. See our affiliate disclosure.

Can I be in more than one group? Yes. Your home screen lists all your current and completed games.

How do I delete my account? Open the About tab in the app and tap Delete account.
